► On the Record

“A bank is a place where they lend you an umbrella in fair weather and ask for it back the minute it begins to rain.”

Sounds like you were for Pollard after all. Do you think he would be out doorbelling for months if he did not have the stamina? Thanks for the vote for confidence. Exactly what we need to get him off on the right foot. Have you asked to meet with him yet to discuss the advisory board or just throwing stones? VBJ could have a major roll in this if the spirit is cooperative.

Paul--Great and timely "Call to Action" message for our new mayor!

One item I would add that has not had much attention--and which Mayor Tim is fully aware of due to his active participation in the 4th Plain Corridor (4PC) Revitalization Task Force--is exploring how to best address economic impacts that threaten our existing small business community, particularly in areas where business viability is at huge risk of shutting down. We've lost a number of enterprises along the Corridor--and I sense many are on the verge of going over the edge.

On that note--I want to advocate for a seat on the Business Advisory Council with the name of Sharif Burdzik--team leader at the Intl. Branch for 1st Indy and Business Coalition leader for the 4PC Revitalization Task Force. Sharif also brings to the table his leadership role with the Team 99 effort being orchestrated by Clark County--so he could truly leverage their lessons learned into the effort with his participation.

Finally, I cannot imagine a BAC having much credibility-or the scope of substantive involvement this situation demands--without the full mix of politically oriented participation.

Knowing Mr. Leavitt, I expect he will seek out the brightest and best to assure the highest probability of good, solid recommendations with those who have the where with all to mobilizing good ideas into action.
